Improving Our Sustainable Business Practices
KeyMe strives to follow sustainable best practices throughout the entire organization. We have embedded sustainable business practices from manufacturing to key cutting. That’s why, for more than 10 years, KeyMe has been collaborating with others to drive positive impact across our global supply chain.
KeyMe has invested millions of dollars in engineering resources to continue to improve our systems and processes that will reduce waste, emissions and extend the useful life of our kiosks. While we do a lot today we know there is always room for improvement.
KeyMe Sustainability Efforts Aim to Reduce Waste and Emissions
From day one we have utilized technology to allow remote repairs, problem diagnostics, and just in time replenishment. Through these efforts alone we have saved millions of pounds of CO2 emissions.
We take recycling our brass scrap incredibly seriously. We collect and recycle all the brass debris from our key cutting operation.
Through our remote repair capabilities & just in time replenishment systems we save over 40,000 trips to the kiosk reducing our carbon footprint.
We repair & refurbish all parts from our machines to continue to provide the best experience while limiting what goes to landfill.
Our manufacturing partner was awarded the Silver rating by - in 2023, for being in the top 25% of companies evaluated.
Sustainable Manufacturing
We selected our manufacturing partner because they are an industry leader in sustainability and because all of our machines would be assembled in the United States. Our manufacturing partner is audited annually for sustainability by a third party. They were awarded a silver rating by Ecovadis in 2023, ranking in the top 89th percentile for sustainability, up from the 72nd percentile the previous year. We are proud to work with a partner that continues to make strides in improving sustainability.
Diverting Parts from Landfill with Refurbishment
We aim to break the link between consumption and waste, moving toward a more circular economy where materials stay in use instead of being thrown out. When a kiosk cannot be fixed in the field it is sent to our refurbishment team that evaluates each and every part within the kiosk. They focus on repairing and reusing parts without sacrificing our high quality standards. While this effort is time consuming it allows us to minimize waste that otherwise would be sent to the landfills.
KeyMe may charge a small fee for some products and/or services to support continuing efforts in sustainable practices.
